Oregon State Fire Marshal Office
MR. SUMMER is right around the corner. Please safe guard your family and home. Make sure your air vents and filters are cleaned and ready for summer. Put in new batteries to all your smoke/fire detectors. Have an escape plan and meeting place for family.
Taking a few minutes to walk through your home can help protect the most important thing in your life. Your family. Lets be safe this summer. Clean out your air conditioners and have them checked by a licensed dealer to make sure you are running safe and cleanly. Fans around the house are great also, but make sure they are in a safe place so young children don't pull them down causing a spark and fire. Make sure you don't have piles of flammable items such as grass clippings, etc. close to your home or outbuilding that could combust and catch on file.
Please take a minute to run through one of the check lists below or print it off and put on your frig, because it only takes a minute for a fire to start vs. a minute to safeguard your family. However, if you have any questions or concerns, please call Helix Fire Chief Dave Baty or one of the other officers to answer any questions or help you with a walk through. We are here to serve you!!! Phone numbers are on the "contact information" page.
